March 24, 2020Forming Attainable Resolutions

It is that time of the year when billboards come to life and compete for attention, nuptial knots get tied and families unite, radios blare with carols and promotions, vehicles and humans compete for right of the road and the neighborhoods suddenly develop a red and green backdrop.
Prayers and booze flow in unequal amounts depending on your preference and what we all want is to end the year on a good note while gearing up for the exciting new year ahead. It is that time of the year when organizations and individuals take stock and set new goals and resolutions. Speaking of resolutions, I’m sure you know that we, at Novaturient (the dictionary agrees) are all for making goals more desirable, realistic and achievable.
So before we, (yes, you and I) present our resolutions to self, friends and God, let’s ask ourselves the following questions using the GROW model on each resolutions:
Goal:
- What outcome am I seeking by the achievement of the resolution?
- How detailed and specific is my resolution?
- What time frame am I working with?
Reality
- What is my present situation against my resolution?
- How great is my concern and desire for the resolution?
- How much control do I have over the outcome?
Options
- What are all the different ways I can achieve my resolution?
- Have I considered all the alternatives, large or small, complete and partial?
- What else could I do?
Way forward
- Which of the considered option(s) will I start with?
- What will be my criteria and measurements for success?
- When precisely will I start and finish each action step (timelines)?
On this note, please enjoy the season, celebrate your achievements and with your resolutions, challenge yourself to achieve more in the coming year.
