October 2, 2018Based on a similar survey conducted by CIPD, in July 2018, we (Novaturient) asked you and over 200 other Ghanaians employees across sectors, levels, and ages how work and the workplace is impacting on your well-being and your well-being on your workplace?

The summary of Responses
4 out of every 5 respondents (80%) strongly believe that their workload is going up.
Approximately 1 of 5 (22%) and 1 of 4 (26%) are of the view that work is impacting their mental and physical health negatively respectively.
While 67% of respondents feel extremely stressed as a result of work, 4 and above times a month, 52% are less confident in the structures of their organization to support them manage the stress.
33% of the population have experienced bullying at work and of that only a quarter of the bullying issues were resolved, which support the lack of confidence in the organizations structures to help resolve stress related issues.
Finally, 44% are taking time off due to work related stress.
From the data and the summary, the questions to ask are;

Are employees being supported and empowered to cope with the increasing workload? Do we know the cost of declining well-being on our productivity? Do we take employee well-being seriously? Do we measure the state of our employees well-being and how it affects their engagement, turnover and output? Are we proactive or reactive with well-being issues of employees? | Are we empowering ourselves to take ownership of our space to cope with the increasing workloads? Are we conscious of our well-being and its effects on our output at the work place? Are we consciously and proactively managing our well being and its consequences or we just react to it?
